Looking for apartment

Dear Neighbors,

My dear old friend has to move from W.12^th St. where she’s been living for 44 years, and now needs an apartment. Does anyone know of something for under $1,500? Or maybe a bit more.

Having owned condo rental apartments in the neighborhood, with all due respect, I can tell you that (a) your friend’s budget is way too low and (b) there are not a large number of rentals in the neighborhood as most of the buildings are co-ops, i.e. very few condos or co-ops with liberal rental policies.<o:p></o:p>

That said, I own an apartment at <st1:street><st1:address>60 West 13^th Street, #9E</st1:address></st1:street>, literally around the corner. It can be viewed on the Corcoran website. As there is no mortgage on my apartment now, with a decent down payment, I am in a position to hold a mortgage from the purchaser. If your friend was able to pay such a down payment, her monthly payments, even without considering the interest deduction she would also get, would be in the area of her budget.<o:p></o:p>
